Nurturing Young Minds and Big Hearts for the Planet at Bambini Earth Day

  05 June, 2025       13:19       Admin

Sleman, Indonesia - In harmony with the Earth Day celebration, Bambini Montessori School gathered and embraced the day in a vibrant, meaningful event held on April 22, 2025, bringing together Casa 1-3 and 3-6 children, teachers, and special guests from Gadjah Mada University Faculty of Forestry. This event is a commitment to expand sustainability awareness from an early age.

A radiant atmosphere sparked as the Casa 3-6 children came in earthy outfits and leafy crowns, which added a festive touch to the day. They enjoyed an engaging and inspiring story by the forestry students about animals and the forest ecosystem. The students brought the story to life through expressive storytelling, illustrating the effects of waste on forest life using DIY puppets. The children remained captivated and curious about environmental issues.

The fun continued as children curiously asked questions about forest animals, plants, and more, broadening their knowledge of the natural world. Afterwards, the children sang songs and watched friends present their creative work from used materials, developing self-confidence and a sense of appreciation.

In the closing activity, the children lined up for an interactive categorizing and sticking game. Each child received a picture of a plant, tree, or waste item and chose whether to stick it on a “forest” board or a “waste” board. This activity encouraged critical thinking, decision-making, and environmental awareness from an early age. The session was meaningfully closed with a photo session, capturing the meaningful memory of the day.

Conversely, the Casa 1-3 children enjoyed listening to an inspiring story by Rumah Dongeng Mentari. They also joined the interactive work of sticking and decorating the map board. They collectively focused on every item and poured out their imagination on the board along with the thoughtful teacher’s guidance. This activity is not only part of the Earth Day celebration but a prolonged sensorial exploration as children actively use their hands to work on the boards, stimulating their fine motor skills.

Bambini Montessori School extends heartfelt thanks to the Gadjah Mada University students and Rumah Dongeng Mentari for their heartwarming and meaningful sharing with children. May this day leave lasting memories and worthwhile insights for us all, and become a valuable reminder to raise awareness of the sustainable Earth.
