Sleman, Indonesia - JMMS Residential has become one of the flagship programs of the JMMS community over the years. This year, this event was held from 14 January to 28 February 2025, comprising various activities both within and outside of the school environment. The JMMS Residential 2025 edition continued this project by allowing students to explore real-world skills through a series of unforgettable events. It is a platform for the students to expand their knowledge and social awareness as they grow up into adolescents seeking independence, responsibility, and a meaningful role in society.

Throughout this program, students had the opportunity and freedom to explore, experiment, and organize through initiatives. Alongside the teacher's guidance and the local community's support, the students learned to organize affordable markets (pasar murah), engage in crafting and planting, explore the zoo, and lead fun tours, dedicating themselves to nurture bonds with the community and environment. Beyond the compact collaboration of Team A and B, the students embraced responsibility and kindness by working together in events like Jum'at Berkah (Friday Blessing), blood donation drives, free health check-ups, and charity workshops. These events stood out as the major highlights at the end of JMMS Residential, where the JMMS students and teachers collaborated with Puskesmas (local health center) and the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) to provide essential medical services to the community. These efforts not only provided support but also deepened students’ understanding of social and economic issues while emphasizing physical well-being and empathy.

In line with Montessori education philosophy, adolescents are at the period of Erdkinder (children of the land), where they need to plunge into the environment and get involved in work alongside adults as role models to cultivate soft skills such as communication, critical thinking, collaboration, leadership, social intelligence, and emotional resilience. Guided by this principle, the JMMS Residential is passionately implemented to facilitate students’ meaningful development and full potential unlocking.

This pack of residential programs became a valuable hands-on learning opportunity, empowering students to grow into compassionate and responsible citizens. Hopefully, this year's residential program will leave a lasting impact and be even better in the coming years.
