Sleman, Indonesia – This year, the Jogjakarta Montessori Middle School (JMMS) proudly hosted the JMMS Art Exhibition themed “Diverse Space,” featuring the creative works of students from JMMS grades 9 – 12. This event ran for two days, from February 20 – 21, 2025, at Jogja National Museum (JNM Bloc), attracting numerous visitors, from supportive parents to art lovers and curious public members. The exhibition served as a platform for young creatives, shedding their perspectives on diversity into thought-provoking masterpieces.
The art exhibition was officially opened in a heartwarming ceremony on February 20, 2025, led by the Principal of JMMS, Rengganis Istikasari, S.Pd, alongside the Director of Education at Bambini-Jogjakarta Montessori School, Vandalina Susanto, S.Pd., Mont, Dipl, marking the celebration of students’ hard work and artistic achievements, also, as the culmination of dedication and creativity guided by JMMS’s passionate art teacher, Lintang Ramadhan, S.Pd that brought students’ creative visions to life.
The diverse collection featured 57 artworks, ranging from paintings and installations and seamlessly blending conventional and contemporary styles. This exhibition sparked a dynamic visual dialogue and embodied the theme of harmonious diversity.
This exhibition offered multifaceted experiences from bringing multicultural stories, encouraging collaborative explorations among young artists, and elevating a space for the audience to immerse in the stories behind each creation and witness firsthand the artistic boundaries. Through the vibrant colors, patterns, and intricate textures, every element of the exhibition echoed the beauty of diversity.
This event provided a space for reflection on culture, identity, and varying perceptions while offering teenage artists a stage to explore themes of inclusion, tolerance, and interconnectedness, inspiring them to think boldly, explore new viewpoints, create fearlessly, and embrace the world’s rich tapestry of perspectives.
The JMMS “Diverse Space” art exhibition was not only a medium for self-expression but also a bridge connecting people from all walks of life.
