Sleman, Indonesia — Bambini-Jogjakarta Montessori Schools proudly announce the successful completion of their “Parents Welcoming Day” events, held from July 11-17, 2024. These events were designed to provide parents with essential information about their children’s education, strengthen the partnership between families and the school, and prepare parents and students for a successful academic year 2024/2025.

Bambini Montessori School (July 15-17, 2024)

The event at Bambini Montessori School began with a session on respect and peace. Parents received practical strategies for teaching these values, focusing on empathy, understanding, and acceptance. The discussion emphasized respect as a deep recognition of each child’s individuality and dignity. At the same time, peace was framed as an inner state and a social goal. Parents were encouraged to foster self-discipline, conflict-resolution skills, and a sense of responsibility, aiming to create a supportive and harmonious home environment.

After this session, parents received an overview of recent updates to Bambini Montessori School’s programs and discussed their impact on classroom activities and student development. They also met the teachers, gaining insight into their roles and how they will support their children’s learning journey.

Jogjakarta Montessori Elementary School (July 11-12, 2024)

At Jogjakarta Montessori Elementary School, the two-day event began with a presentation by Natalia Christiani, Principal, on “Sensitive Period & Second Plane Development Characteristics.” This session aimed to help parents understand the developmental stages of children as they transition to the second plane of development, ages 6-12. An interactive Q&A session followed, where parents addressed specific concerns and gained additional insights.

Parents also visited their children’s classrooms, met with teachers, and received detailed information about the developmental characteristics of elementary-aged children. They learned the importance of the school and parents working together to support student growth.

Jogjakarta Montessori Middle School (July 12, 2024)

The Middle School event featured several key sessions to give parents a comprehensive understanding of the middle school experience at Yogyakarta Montessori. A notable session, led by Rengganis Istikasari, Principal, focused on “Adolescent Development and JMMS Specifics.” This presentation covered middle school students’ unique developmental needs and challenges, including cognitive, emotional, and social changes during adolescence. It explained the support mechanisms JMMS has in place.

Additional sessions included an overview of JMMS community activities by Curriculum Coordinator Caecilia Candrarini, an introduction to JMMS teachers and staff, Parent Testimonials from Grades 8 and 9, and a segment on “Your Kitchen Today,” highlighting the school’s commitment to nutritious meals. Teachers were available for one-on-one consultations, allowing parents to discuss specific subjects and curriculum details.

These events successfully provided parents with essential information, enhanced their understanding of the school environment, and strengthened the collaboration between families and the school for a productive academic year.
